5 kWh Home Energy Storage System – Home ESS Model A

Home ESS Model A is a compact single-phase hybrid energy storage system built around a 5 kWh-class battery and an integrated hybrid inverter. It is sized for households using roughly 5 to 8 kWh per day: a fridge, lighting, entertainment, a router and a gate motor on continuous duty, with a borehole pump or a small air-conditioner as the peak load. In European markets the same unit is used to shift self-generated solar into the evening peak instead of exporting it at a low feed-in rate.

Model A is supplied as a documented product rather than a catalogue item. Every unit is quoted with the datasheet, installation manual, commissioning guide and the certificate set that the destination market’s registering authority actually asks for – so the compliance documents are known before the order is placed, not discovered during grid-connection approval.

Cycle life – what is published and what has to be verified

Cycle life is only a specification when four conditions are attached to it: the depth of discharge (DoD) the cycles were measured at, the test temperature, the charge and discharge C-rate, and the end-of-life capacity threshold (80% of beginning-of-life capacity is the common basis, but it is not universal). A headline cycle count without those four conditions cannot be compared against another product, and it is not what a warranty will apply.

Certification and documentation

Certificates are published per model, with the standard, certificate number, issuing body, applicable markets and validity – not per brand. For a product in this class, a buyer should expect to see a battery safety standard (IEC 62619), a converter safety standard (IEC 62477-1 and/or IEC 62109-1/-2), transport certification (UN 38.3 and an MSDS), and – wherever the system is connected to a public network – a national type test certificate such as NRS 097-2-1 for South Africa or VDE-AR-N 4105 for Germany, with the inverter model appearing on the relevant authority’s approved equipment list.
